So, I was looking at our old blogs, and Blogger says that this one was last published April, 2007?!? Seriously??? 'Cause the last post I'm loooking at clearly shows 2005. Hmmmm...

Well, anyhoo, it's about time to resurrect this thing.

Especially since we're moving to UTAH!

No, we're not becoming Mormon (you'd be surprised at just how many people ask us that).

We lost the townhouse to foreclosure a month ago (that ceiling that Ken took down in a previous post...yeah...that never got put back up), which means we can leave with no strings attached...except for family, and friends, of course.

But, seriously (can't get enough of that word, apparently), we'll have lots of room, and are expecting lots of visitors (hint, hint), so we'll let you know when we're settled, and you can come visit!

I started this blog hoping that I could get Izzy to blog along with me... but that hasn't happened. Because of the increased traffic on my personal blog, I am going to focus all of my online attention on updating the website and maintaining my personal blog. All site updates wil be posted here instead. In the meantime, this site will be silently scuttled. So long!

The First Album is Up!!

Okay, the first of the albums is up. Check it out. Albums are the most exhausting thing to try and create. Yes, I have a template, but not the time to work on it. Once finals are done, I'll post some new albums. I also promised Izzy I would do some work on the house, so keep your eyes peeled for home improvement pics.

Sweating Bullets...

So I was trying to purge some of the junk on the server when I clicked "Delete" and nearly collapsed. I had just deleted my entire blog. A frantic call went to my hosting company, after I realized that I couldn't resurrect my files myself. They politely informed that the frequent backups they made were only for when they made a mistake, not me. nyah-nyah-nyah! Luckily, Blogger (I swear, Google just keeps thinking up new reasons for us to love them, don't they?) does keep a copy of blogs and, most importantly, their archives. Less than 5 minutes later, I was republishing my blog on my site. Five very tense minutes.

Whew. Well, my purging impulse is officially dead. . .

The wall still stands, we delayed the project to work on some other things in house.... But the Architectural Theorist is alive and well and bursting with ideas. A Clash of Concepts is brewing and the primary difference seems to be, surprisingly, the purpose behind the objective. Are we working to drive up rent/salability? Or are we trying to create a custom living space for ourselves? (For those of you who know us well, you can amuse yourselves guessing who is driven by what purpose.)

We'll keep you posted on our projects and progress as they happen. If I can figure out a way to post layout options, I might just put them up for a vote.

Well, here they are... Long delayed, I know, but I couldn't get around to them until I had finished studying for my fluids midterm. I'm not going to give the whole back-story, that's what I made this page for. The Cliffs Notes are we had a bad light and decided to replace it. I hit a few setbacks while attempting to install the new lights, making the most practical (ie, most satsifying) solution the removal of the entire ceiling. And a wall. And then we installed the new lights. But, under the new 400watts of flaw revealing light, our eyes were opened. . . and, well, that's where we are now. But don't think for a minute that we're done! (Somewhere, Izzy is cringing as she reads this....) Now that the walls are naked, isn't this the best time to tackle our plumbing and electrical issues? Even those that are merely imagined or potential? Someday, we'll look back on this as the event that drove us to remodel the house...

But for now, we've got pics of various stages of the project. . . Enjoy!

Viewing Issues

Well, my journey of web development has been one of discovery and I have tended to stick with whatever method kept the webpage looking consistent. The problem is that no method will keep the site looking exactly the same.

I use tables on our website. Tables can be set up one of two different ways (as far as I know): Pixel dimensions or Proportional dimensions. Right now, I use pixel dimensions. The top bar on the home page is 1200 pixels wide. Now, the amount of the top bar that's visible is dependant on your screen resolution. For example, if your screen resolution is set to 800x600, then your screen is only 800 pixels wide. So, if you try to view our webpage on that screen, 2/3rds of the top bar will only be visible.

I'm going to have to either switch to proportional dimensioning or reduce the size of the table. But, that's a project for another day.

Roomie is moving! After much ambiguitity, Boeing has finally given her a definitive date for her move. So, she'll be leaving next Monday or Tuesday, depending on when the movers are coming for her stuff.

So, after the frustration of trying to figure out how to place news on our site, and deciding to just update a blog instead, I discovered "Click here to publish your site at your own address."

Could it be? Could have my blog placed on my site, yet managed the same as any of my other blogs? Apparently, yes. But, this is the first post so there are literally hundreds of ways I could tear my hair out before then.

Yet, I remain optimistic, though I hope not foolishly. :-P
